Assam Chief Minister and Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga to meet soon to solve the border dispute
GUWAHATI, Aug 01: After the incident’s happen on on July 26, killing 5 cops in the clashed and 50 police personnels injured. Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Mizoram CM Zoramthanga are likely to meet soon to discuss the border dispute between the two states.
This was informed by Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday afternoon.
The Assam chief minister said that his Mizoram counterpart Zoramthanga has promised him to invite him to Aizawl soon after the latter is out of quarantine.
“Hon’rable CM @ZoramthangaCM had promised to call me post his quarantine,” Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted.
CM Sarma also termed that the July 26 clash between the two states as ‘unfortunate’.

Himanta Biswa Sarma also laid stress on resolving border disputes by the means of dialogue and the need to keep the “spirit of Northeast alive”.
” Our main focus is on keeping the spirit of North-East alive. .. Border disputes can only be resolved through discussion,” the Assam chief minister said.
Earlier, Mizoram chief minister Zoramthanga had said that both Assam and Mizoram have agreed to resolve the inter-state border issue through dialogue.
“After a telephonic discussion with Union Home Minister and Assam Chief Minister, we have agreed to resolve the Mizoram-Assam border issue amicably through meaningful dialogue,” Mizoram CM Zoramthanga said.
Zoramthanga further appealed to the people of Mizoram to avoid posting “sensitive messages” on the social media.
“.in order to prevent any possible escalation of the situation, I request the people of Mizoram to avoid posting sensitive messages and make judicious use of their social media platform,” Mizoram CM Zoramthanga said.
