Borders disputes: Assam, Mizoram CM’s orders to withdraw FIR registered against both states

GUWAHATI, Aug 03: After the violence broke out since 26july, now two states shows positive gestures, Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga has directed the state’s police to withdraw the FIR against all the accused in the July 26 clash along the Assam-Mizoram border. Assam chief minister, too, followed the suit and asked police to withdraw cases filed against DC Kolasib and SDPO Virengte

Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga tweeted: “In order to build a conducive atmosphere for amicable solution to the #Mizoram Assam Border dispute & to reduce the plight of suffering citizens,I have directed @mizoram police to withdraw FIR dt.

26.07.2021 filed at Vairengte, Kolasib District,Mizoram against all the accused persons.”

In a tweet, Assam chief minister said: “I learn that Honble CM @Zoramthanga CM has asked @mizoram police to withdraw FIR dt 26.7.21 against our officers. I heartily reciprocate this positive gesture and ask @assam police to withdraw cases against DC Kolasib and SDPO Virengte.”

 

The Assam chief minister said their government would send two ministers to Aizawl on August 5 for a “meaningful dialogue” with the Mizoram government.

He also tweeted saying: “Further, in aid of an early amicable resolution,I am sending my cabinet colleagues, @ATULBORA2 and @TheAshokSinghal to Aizawl on 5 Aug, 21, for a meaningful dialogue. Assam stands committed to ensuring peace on its borders,paving the way for a peaceful & developed North-East.”

 

Earlier, the Assam chief minister had directed the police to withdraw FIR against Mizoram Rajya Sabha MP K Vanlalvena. Special DGP of Assam GP Singh tweeted: “Reference @assampolice Dholai PS Case of Cachar district against @mizorampolice and other unknown persons, action against Sri K. Vanlalvena , Honble MP, Rajya Sabha from Mizoram has been abated.”

 

GP Singh also tweeted “This has been done at the instruction of Hon @CMOfficeAssam Sjt @himantabiswa in the interest of de-escalation of the tension along the border. However, criminal proceedings against erring police personnel of @mizorampolice and other miscreants shall continue.”

Economic blockade: Mizoram health minister writes to Amit Shah

Mizoram health minister has written to Amit Shah and Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya seeking Centre’s intervention stating that the economic blockade has resulted in a shortage of medicine and Covid-testing kit in Mizoram.
