Chennai Rain News Live: CM Stalin visits rain-affected areas ,IMD issued Orange alert in Chennai

Chennai, Tamil Nadu Rain : On sunday following heavy rainfall and waterlogging schools and colleges in the Tamil Nadu capital and 22 other districts will remain shut today.

CM MK Stalin on Monday visited the rain-affected areas in Chennai for the second day and helped out with the relief measures. On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had spoken to Stalin to discuss the situation in wake of the heavy rainfall in parts of Tamil Nadu, assuring all possible support from the Centre in rescue and relief work in the southern state.

The IMD has predicted more rain in the coming days. It has issued an orange alert in 14 districts, including Cuddalore, Villupuram, Chennai, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu, Tiruvallur, Vellore, Ranipet, Tirupattur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Kallakurichi, Tiruvannamalai and Salem districts of Tamil Nadu

In Chennai, the civic body on Monday distributed 3.36 lakh food packets for breakfast and lunch in the flood-affected regions out of the common kitchens set up in the 15 zones. Chennai Corporation Commissioner Gagandeep Singh Bedi said 570 pumps have been deployed to take out water from subways and other water-logged areas.
