Sikkim: While taking selfie a 20-year-old Tourist ‘drowned’ in the Lachung river

On Monday morning a tourist from Bihar has reportedly got ‘drowned’ in the Lachung river.

The 20-year-old tourist from Bihar got ‘drowned’ in the river while taking selfie.

The deceased has been identified as Abhishek Kumar from Bhagalpur district in Bihar.

The incident occurred at around 7:30 in the morning.

Meanwhile, the Sikkim police and other concerned authorities have launched an elaborate search operation to trace the missing tourist.

Police, Army, ITBP and locals are currently engaged in the search operation.

The tourist slipped off a rock while taking selfie and was swept away by the strong current of the river.

The tourist – Abhishek Kumar – had arrived at Sikkim on January 1 with his relatives and friends on Holiday.
