Union Minister Sonowal extends heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for reducing the area of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA)
On the historic occasion of the government decision to reduce
the area of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), the Union
Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways (PSW) and Ayush,
Sarbananda Sonowal said, “I extend my heartfelt gratitude to our visionary Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the Union
Government took an important decision to reduce the area of
Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) in Assam, Manipur &
Nagaland. This makes it evident that the peace in Northeast has
returned. Under the leadership of our Prime Minister, the region
is now developing. With the unwavering commitment to bring
peace & prosperity to all the eight states in the region, the Prime
Minister has been successful to unlock the vast potential of the
Northeast with sheer hard work, focussed approach, and
sustained effort. The peace achieved by the region has led varied
sectors of the region secure unprecedented growth. With the
peace coming back to the region, the people from all walks has
reclaimed an opportunity to live their lives with respect. On
