Army Conducts Pension Workshop For North East Veterans At Guwahati

AZIR KHOBOR, GUWAHATI, 11TH MAY, 2022 : A two days workshop and interaction on pension and Veterans Welfare issues was held on 9th and 10th May 2022 at Guwhati and beamed to all Military Stations in North East via video link.

 

A team of Directorate of Indian Army Veterans ( DIAV) from Army Headquarters conducted the workshop cum interaction with serving officers and personnel on 09th May 2022 and with Veterans, Veer Naaris and their dependents on 10 May 2022 at Narangi Military Station, Guwahati. 12 more military stations and formations joined via Video Link. Apart from Jorhat, Dinjan, Tezpur and Rangia in Assam, Shillong in Meghalaya, Dimapur and Zakhama in Nagaland, Aizawl in Mizoram, Agartala in Tripura, Leimakong in Manipur, Tenga in Arunanchal Pradesh also attended the workshop via Video Link.

A large number of issues related to pension entitlement, migration of pension to SPARSH, various welfare schemes by Central and State Governments and Ex Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme ( ECHS) were explained and discussed in detail. A workshop for all the personnel dealing with Veterans issues was conducted on both days.

The event has been well appreciated by the Veterans community of North East, being one of its kinds. It was attended by more than 1500 serving personnel and Veterans across the North East.

 

Brigadier Borthakur, a Veteran said that migration to SPARSH has created lot of doubt in their minds which were very well explained. Many other Veterans also echoed similar views and appreciated the conduct of the workshop in resolving issues faced by Veterans.
