ASSOCHAM hosted AYURVEDA PARV supported by Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, in Shillong

AZIR KHOBOR, SHILLONG, 16TH SEPTEMBER, 2022: The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) today organized “AYURVEDA PARV” in Shillong. The Ayurveda Parv is a three-day Exhibition spanning from September 15 through September 17 and every common citizen of Shillong can attend the public display. This event has been organized for proper utilization of Ayurvedic health care as well as for coordination and better utilization of Ayurvedic education, research, and manufacturing of medicines. The three days exhibition focused on Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy. In order to, promote the AYUSH industry in the region, ASSOCHAM in partnership with the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India. Dr. Joram Beda, IAS, Secretary to the Govt. of Meghalaya Health department and Shri C.V.D. Diengdoh, IAS, Director of Tourism, Govt. of Meghalaya were present to grace the occasion and urged the people to take part in the activities. Dr. Sudipta Narayan Roy, Chairman, National AYUSH Task Force, Dr. Dinesh Baruah, Assistant Director & In-Charge Central Ayurveda Research Institute, Guwahati, Dr. Amulya Ratna Sahoo, Research Officer & Officer-in-Charge, Regional Research Institute of Homoeopathy, Guwahati, & Dr. Neeta Mahesekar, Director, North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda & Homoeopathy, Shillong was also present there.

The holistic living approach of Ayurveda has its origins in Indian tradition and culture. The deep-rooted ancient knowledge of Ayurveda and therapeutic herbs has been reintroduced to the world as a result of pandemic-related global disturbances. It is predicated on the idea that mental, physical, and spiritual wellness are intricately entwined. The Ministry of AYUSH is supporting the Government of India’s initiative to promote medical tourism through ‘Ayurveda Parv.’ With the potential to become a pioneer in the study, production, and consumption of natural goods and traditional medicines, Shillong, Meghalaya and its neighbouring regions are home to a diversity of medicinal plants, both known and undiscovered.

ASSOCHAM considers it critical to have a supportive environment for ensuring access to high-quality healthcare for everyone. The three-day exposition and business meeting, ‘Ayurveda Parv,’ aims to give stakeholders a forum for networking and ayurveda promotion. Along with the above, free doctor clinics for the general public and technical lectures for professionals are also included in the show. The three main attractions are the display of medicinal plants and public lectures on health and Ayurveda. National Councils Business Meets for Industry distribute free medicine (selected medicines while supplies last). The Expo provides a venue for companies and individuals involved in Ayurveda, Homeopathy, and herbal remedies to display their goods and services.

The aims and objectives of the Ayurveda Parv envisaged the promotion, propagation and development of Ayurveda and the ayurvedictraditions:

To promote holistic principles and best practices of Ayurveda for healthy living and management of diseases

Inculcate awareness building and sensitization of communities about the strengths and potential of Ayurveda in healthcare

To project Ayurveda programs & schemes of the Central & State Governments for the benefit of masses

To develop interface with Ayurveda stakeholders & policy makers in public interest

To recognize the contribution and involvement of Ayurveda functionaries in healthcare services

To enhance the knowledge of Ayurveda amongst the masses

To provide a platform for students/teachers/practitioners to acquire authentic knowledge and practice of Ayurveda

To bring awareness about an important healthy lifestyle
