11-Year-Old Boy Accidentally Hangs Himself While making Prank Video

Kanpur: Emulating a social media suicide prank proved tragic for an 11-year-old boy in UP’s Hamirpur district. Nikhil, inspired by the online trend, tied a towel to his room’s ceiling hook, creating a noose, a TOI report said.

Unfortunately, the prank went horribly wrong as the noose tightened, leading to the boy’s accidental death. Nikhil’s father, Awadhesh Sahu, confirmed to the police that his son had seen the prank on social media.

Later, the police discovered the video in the family’s mobile phone watchlist. Awdhesh, who operates a building material shop, informed the police that after returning from school on Thursday afternoon, Nikhil began watching reels on his mobile.

“He tried to emulate a suicide prank after seeing the reels. The noose tightened around his neck. We rushed him to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him dead,” he said.

Nikhil was the eldest among two brothers and a sister. Hamirpur SP Deeksha Sharma mentioned that during the mobile scan, a video on suicide pranks was discovered in his YouTube watchlist.

“We appeal to all parents to monitor their children closely so that they do not watch anything destructive,” Sharma said.

Nikhil’s school manager claimed that he was a bright student.
