In the amidst of crisis in Afghanistan ,Protests rocked the streets of Kabul on Tuesday when a large group of women raised slogans against Pakistan. The Taliban fired in the air and also arrested several journalists who were covering the protest.
Days later, photographs have emerged showing two Afghan journalists, who were reporting on the Kabul protests, covered in injuries from being thrashed by the Taliban.
In a tweet, American journalist Marcus Yam shared a photo of the two journalists showing blood clots all over their bodies. Yam wrote, “Painful. Afghan journalists from Nemat Naqdi & Taqi Daryabi display wounds sustained from Taliban torture & beating while in custody after they were arrested for reporting on a women’s rally in Kabul.”
Several Afghan journalists covering the Kabul protests were arrested on Tuesday.
Afghanistan’s TOLO news reported that the Taliban detained its camera-person Wahid Ahmadi and confiscated his camera. The Taliban forces prevented some journalists from filming the protest, it added.
Meanwhile, human rights group Amnesty International said in a post on Twitter that it is “deeply concerned about reports on use of violence against peaceful protestors and journalists in Kabul by the Taliban.
