DEARNESS ALLOWANCE HIKES TO THE CENTRAL GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES

The DA for central government employees has been hiked to 28 per cent from curren 17 per cent.

GUWAHATI July 14: The government on Wednesday has hiked the Dearness Allowance (DA) given to central government employees and pensioners from 17 per cent to 28 per cent. Sources ensured that the Union Cabinet has taken a decision to hike DA, which was put on hold since last year due to covid-19 pandemic.

The update is a major relief for lakhs of central government employees who have been waiting for the announcement for months.

The move comes on the back of several media reports speculating that dearness allowance would be hiked from the month of 1st July.

At least three additional installments of DA to central government employees and DR to pensioners were due from January 1, 2020, July 1, 2020, and January 1, 2021.
