Minister Suklabaidya asks officials to take up development projects at Gorukhuti.
AZIR KHOBOR, GUWAHATI, 19TH DECEMBER : Minister for Environment and Forest, Fisheries and Excise, Parimal Suklabaidya visited Gorukhuti at Sipajhar in Lower Assam’s Darrang district along with high level officials of Forest and Fisheries departments to inspect the area for taking up of a slew of development projects on Sunday.
At the direction of Chief Minister, Dr.Himanta Biswa Sarma, Minister Suklabaidya went in for inspection of the site for setting up of forestry and fishery related projects at Gorukhuti.
Suklabaidya directed officials of the Forest department to make a drone survey of the project area and come up with a comprehensive plan benefiting the local people. He inaugurated the drone survey for technical mapping of the entire site for proper implementation of projects.The Forest department will submit detail mapping of the project site soon.
He asked the officials to find out a suitable location for setting up of a biodiversity park endowed with medicinal plants.
“There is immense scope for agro forestry and other forestry projects in Gorukhuti area and the Forest department will leave no stone unturned to develop Gorukhuti, the pet project of Chief Minister, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma,” he said, adding that the dream project of the Chief Minister will pave the way for many upcoming projects. The Minister also directed the officials of Fisheries department to take up fishery projects like hatcheries and ponds in lowland areas in consultation with the district administration.
He also visited the spot where Gir cows from Gujarat are being reared by the local people. Dairy related products, including curd are being processed benefitting the people. Suklabaidya spent sometime cuddling the calves. He interacted with the farmers and assured them that the state government would do everything possible to ameliorate their socio-economic condition. He also assured wholehearted support for any projects taken up by Forest and Fisheries departments.
