The Government of Assam is to soon take a decision on the security cover of Member of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) and Very Important Persons (VIPs) of the state.

AZIR KHOBOR, GUWAHATI, 30TH DECEMBER : The Government of Assam is to soon take a decision on the security cover of Member of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) and Very Important Persons (VIPs) of the state.

This is after the socio-political discussion on the issue, specially over the last many weeks. The issue has been a widely-discussed one.

According to sources, Govt. Of Assam is most likely to take major decisions regarding reducing security cover of political leaders. PM Narendra Modi had extended a suggestion in this regard, in the recent meeting with CMs at Varanasi.

Assam Cabinet is likely to take a decision in its next cabinet meeting on January 1st 2022. This is on the new year day.

All MLAs are likely to get only 4 PSOs, but no escort car. Also, no state level leader will get escort car.

Chief of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) is likely to lose escort car, but will get 4 PSOs. Accordingly, Leader of Opposition, Debabrata Saikia is to get both 4 PSOs and escort car. Assam Congress is the prime opposition in the state.

Meanwhile, the Chief secretary will get 4 PSOs and an escort. From Additional Chief Secretary to secretaries, officers will get only 4 PSOs. Cabinet ministers will likely get PSOs and  pilot car.
