INDIAN ARMY CONTINUES ITS RELIEF EFFORTS ACROSS ASSAM
AZIR KHOBOR, ASSAM, 21ST JUNE, 2022 : Sixth day of flood rescue and relief operations continued in various parts of Assam by Indian Army. Indian Army also assisted the local administration in distribution of relief material and restoration tasks.
At flood affected Rangia in Kamrup Rural district, Indian Army organised a medical camp at Fatima School to provide medical succour to stranded locals staying in temporary camps. Fresh water, ration and cooked food and other relief material was also delivered. A bridge on the road between Changsari and Rangia was repaired by the Army Engineers. 24 hour helpline was established to attend to distress calls. The locals appreciated the efforts of the Indian Army. Relief material was transported on boats to Hoinadi, Dihina and Ekadi villages near Hajo in Kamrup district. In Barpeta district, 48 locals were rescued at Sardebadi village. The relief column assisted in restoration of electricity.
Continuing with the rescue efforts nine columns of Indian Army are assisting Civil Administration in distributing relief material and restoration of basic amenities at inaccessible locations in Kamrup Rural, Darrang, Barpeta and Tamulpur . Approx 6000 people rescued by Indian Army since 16 June 2022.
